Our original luxurious genmaicha is a blend of high-quality sencha and roasted genmai(brown rice) in a 1:2 balance. It has a deep aroma and a fresh, lush taste. How about it for a short break in the afternoon or as an aperitif before a meal? The brown rice in this tea is also recommended for use as aa seasoning, such as pairing with snacks or pouring over rice.

What is Genmaicha?
Genmaicha is made by combining roasted rice with tea leaves such as sencha or bancha. There are various theories about its origin, but it is said to have been commercialized around 1925 when a merchant mixed leftover rice and rice cakes with tea leaves and drank it. Usually, tea leaves and rice are mixed in a 1:1 ratio, but each store uses a different blend, so you can find your own taste.

What makes our Genmaicha special?
The tea is made from Yame tea leaves, which have a refreshing taste that envelopes the brown rice. The brown rice is a blend of roasted brown rice carefully selected by a tea master at a tea shop that is also a designated tea merchant for Yame tea, which has a sweet and less oily taste and aroma. The tea farmers who produce the tea are not only dedicated to production, but are also involved in activities to promote tea widely, and Takihime is also responsible for passing on this tradition.
